The gazetteer gives a descriptive history of some of the most frequently visited cities and ports of the Scarrow mariners between 1830 and 1940. This includes two bases, namely Liverpool and London which were utilised principly by Joseph in his later years, and by Robert thoughout his career with Harrisons. Glasgow is also included, as Glasgow was the major shipbuilding port of the early 20th century. For each port there are tables listing imports, exports and industry such that a picture of the trade between Britain and the rest of the world during the 19th and 20th centuries can be established. |
